Good evening to all of you - my family, friends, acquaintances, random people and unknown beings! This is my blog and another post about the last week in my life! / Tere õhtust kõigile teile - sugulastele, sõpradele, tuttavatele, suvalistele inimestele ja tundmatutele olenditele! See on minu blogi ja järgneb järgimine postitus, mis räägib eelmisest nädalast minu elus!
Tony left Estonia this Monday and as I do not have school at the moment, then I now had lots of free time this week, which I tried to use for reading, watching films, meeting up with friends and other things I was not really able to do in the past few weeks. As I am going to this little Europe-trip, already on this Wednesday, I was also doing the last-minute scheduling and other things, I had not yet done. Also, I have to say that due to my forthcoming travelling, I will not be posting any blog posts on any certain time until I get back to Estonia, although I will try to make little posts of all the towns I stop in.
Have a great time reading the following post now!/ Head lugemist!
Films and TV-shows
This week I had lots of time to watch some episodes of the series I usually try to watch - for example I managed to finish watching the episodes of "Avengers - Earth's Mightiest Heroes". Other than that, I also finished watching the first season of the series, that I took up only last week, "Person of Interest", and I have to say that this TV-show is really something that I would recommend to all of you, as it was really worth watching.
Other than the series that I was watching this week, I also managed to watch this one film, named "One for the Money". It told a story about a young woman, who had some financial difficulties, so she became a bounty hunter and her first target was a cop, who had apparently killed a guy, who had no chance to defend himself and who also happened to be the same guy, who had taken the woman's virginity a long time a go and had never called back. So it was something which had some action, some love and some hate in it - all in all, it was quite a fun movie to watch.
Europe-hitchhike
On this Wednesday, my parents and I had the talk about me going to Europe by myself and it was revealed that both of my parents really knew nothing of my plans and they were quite sceptic about them as well, so they gave me until morning to write a plan, why am I going, where am I going and how much will it cost for them - this was the moment, when I now had to make up a plan, since until that day, I myself had no exact plan yet. So I stayed up until three o clock and I put down an exact plan about my forthcoming adventure. While doing it, I was also talking to one of my friends, Marleen, about her joining me in my trip, although in the morning she still said no, but in a way it is for the better, as from the beginning I have been wanting to do it alone, so I could have all the time for myself, to find out, where to study, what to study and most importantly, how I am at all.
WHY am I going at all? - The first reason, why I am at all going to do this trip is that I want to visit all the universities I am planning to send my applications to already this October (or later, depending on the country), so I would be sure, that I do want to go to those universities. Secondly I also want to find out, what course do I really want to take up, since until now I have the idea, what I want to become, but I am still not certain of the course I have to take beforehand. Other than those two politically correct reasons, I just want to travel, meet new people, see new places and most importantly, I just want to get out from my everyday life, so I could have some peace and some time for myself, so I could really find out, what I want to do in the future, at least the next, final year before going to university. And finally, I would have to go to Amsterdam anyhow, as we will be having this Debate@Europe coordinators meeting, where I would have to attend.
WHERE am I going? - My first destination is Cambridge (4th to 7th of July), where I would like to attend in the Cambridge Open Days and just walk around the town with my host Augur. After that comes London (8th to 10th of July), where I would like to visit some universities like Imperial College London; University College London; King’s College London and London School of Economics and Political Science and I would also just like to enjoy the waft of this magnificent city. Next I will go to Basingstoke (11th to 13th of July), where I would like to meet Ben and his family and also get together with Pamela and maybe some of her friends. After those days, I would like to get back to the mainland, while also stopping in Southampton, Portsmouth and le Havre, where I will also stay for a night with Sylvain (14th of July). Then comes Paris (15th to 17th of July), where I would like to visit one university and just travel around the town. After that I am going either to Luxembourg or Lille (18th to 19th of July) depending, where I find a host wanting to host me. Next up it is time for Brussels (20th to 21st of July). Then comes Rotterdam (22nd of July) with it's university; Leiden (23rd of July) with it's university and Amsterdam (24th of July) with it's university. And then from 25th to 29th of July, I will be attending in the Debate@Europe meeting, located also in Amsterdam, before coming back to home, Estonia.
HOW MUCH will it cost? - I made a really rough calculation about the trip as well - not counting in the things that I will be taking with me from Estonia and neither the ticket back to home. Flight from Tallinn to London Stansted = 119€. Ferry from Portsmouth to le Havre = 32€. Transport is mostly by hitchhike or by foot, although I looked up the prices of different trains, just in case: Stansted Airport - Cambridge = £11.30; Cambridge - London King's Station = £15.90; London Waterloo - Basingstoke = £20.30; Basingstoke - Southampton = £9.50; Southampton - Portsmouth = £9.20; le Havre - Paris = 20€; Paris - Luxembourg/Lille = ~56€; Luxembourg/Lille - Brussels = 36.20€; Brussels - Rotterdam = 28.60€; Rotterdam - Leiden = 6.60€; Leiden - Amsterdam = 5.20€. I also put ~25€ for transport in side the towns. I hope to sleep mostly vie Couch-surfing, therefore 0€ for passing the nights. And finally it's food - 3-15€ per day. So approximately it makes ~200€ + food (plus up to 250€ if I cannot get a hitch).
My parents were okay with the trip after all and they bought me the ticket to the UK, so now I have been trying to find some other hosts for myself via CouchSurfing.org and just planning what to take with me to this trip.
On other notes
As of the last few weeks, I again have been a driver for my parents and for my brother a couple of times this week, and I have to say that I am really enjoying it, even if it mean that I cannot drink anything with alcohol in it - but I am not missing it either.
One day I went to Yacht club restaurant and while making my order, I also asked for a job and they told me to send in my CV, so I did and now, when I come back from the Europe-trip and still want the job, then it's mind.
I also took up the second part of Pimsleur German Language program to continue my German studies.
Starting from this week, I also launched the second phase of my Project X, which means that after deleting all the unnecessary accounts, including msn messenger, already in January, I now tidied up all the accounts that I am still using (including Facebook, Google & Twitter), which means I deleted all the unnecessary information from them. We'll see how far will I go with this Project X in the future.
Eesti keelne kokkuvõte
* Sellel nädalal vaatasin ma ära kõik seni vaatamata osad sarjast "Avengers - Earth's mightiest heroes" ning sain läbi ka esimese ja seni ainsa hooaja "Person of Interest" vaatamisega. Samuti vaatasin filmi Üks raha eest ("One for the Money").
* Jätkasin ka oma Projekt X'i teostamisega - kui jaanuaris kustutasin ära ebavajalikud interneti kasutajad, k.a msn'i, siis nüüd kustutasin kõikjalt ära kogu enese arvates ebavajaliku informatsiooni ima kohta, k.a erinevad positutsed, mida olen teinud - see hõlmab muuseas Facebook'i, Google't ja Twitter'it. Eks näis, kui kaugele ma selle projektiga lõpuks lähen
